Repairing Ballscrews

AB Linear have the capability to repair all ball screws promptly with a ‘medicene chest’ of inventory that has been built up over the years.  AB Linear are the recommended repair facilitators for several OEM’s who do not have the repair facility within the UK or Europe. AB Linear has privileged access to information from suppliers that allows us to procure more efficiently, appropriately and faster.

Option 1: Refurbishment and re-ball.
This involves all the components being thoroughly cleaned; the shaft is checked for straightness and re-straightened if necessary. Any damage to journals and threads is repaired and the whole shaft is then polished. The unit is then rebuilt and the correct preload torque is set.

We have an extensive range of over 50 million ball bearings in grade 5 and grade 10 precision, that cover both imperial and metric sizes.

Option 2: Regrind shaft and new nut.
If the ballscrew has suffered fatigue damage in the balltrack, our next option is then to regrind the shaft and manufacture new nut.

Option 3: Supply new unit.
We are able to do a full engineering drawing of your ballscrew and have a new unit manufactured to the same dimensions as the sample unit.

On receipt of your ballscrew, our engineers will;

• Photograph the unit for record of nut orientation and other features that maybe removed during assessment.
• Your unit will be fully stripped to asses the condition of; the shaft and nut raceways, ball transfer devices and wipers. The condition of end journals and locknut threads will be recorded.
• After our engineer has completed the assessment, we will send you a report on the condition of your unit. Also, you will receive the options available to get your ballscrew to a serviceable condition and prices for the respective options.

Delivery of service is key for AB Linear with significant experience in just in time manufacturing. With this comes the understanding of our customers needs to have an effective response and replacement or refurbished part as soon as possible, within the restraints of the industry.

Emergency Service – Available 24  hours a day, 7 days a week for time critical repairs.
Superior Service – 3 to 4 day turnover from the receipt of the purchase order to dispatch.
Standard Service – 5 to 7 day turnover from the receipt of the purchase
